How a Piling Engineering Appointment Works
A clear sequence from first enquiry to close-out. The steps and deliverables vary by project and are confirmed in a written appointment.
Share project information
Site address, design stage, loads, any site investigation report, drawings and programme.
Review requirements
We review the site, design and BCA submission requirements and flag what is missing.
Confirm scope and fee
Scope, statutory roles, deliverables and fee are set out in a written appointment.
Carry out the agreed work
Design, submission and site-support work as appointed, coordinated with your team.
Close-out records
Coordinate testing records and close-out documentation, where included in the scope.
What happens at each step
1. Share project information
Send what you have: site address, development description, design stage, structural loads, the site investigation report and your programme. Incomplete information is fine at this stage; we will tell you what else is needed.
2. Review site, design and submission requirements
We review the information against the site constraints and the regulatory requirements, including whether the works are geotechnical building works and whether approvals from other agencies may be needed.
3. Confirm scope, appointment and fee
We set out the services, statutory roles, design assumptions, deliverables and fee in a written appointment. Nothing starts until the scope is agreed.
4. Carry out the agreed work
This may include pile design, the BCA submission and installation supervision, coordinated with the architect, contractor and other consultants.
5. Coordinate testing records and close-out documentation
Where included, we coordinate the testing programme, review the test reports and help assemble the piling records needed for close-out.
